Trache questions for Joel or anybody ...

This trache/vent thing has really been on my mind, especially since last week when I saw my local nuero. During the visit, I asked him what % of PALS, in his opinion, decide to get the vent. He guessed it was about 10%. I could sense he thought it better to go with the 90%. I don't know what to...

I hope I can get something for people who cannot use their hands and arms. Posting that one sentence was very difficult and took minutes.

    Creatin

My ALS specialist has it listed, as well as Rilutek, as a recommended "medication", so I take it. The other items are vitamins. I have no idea if it helps, but I don't think you can go downhill any faster than I am, so I doubt it's helping me, but I'll keep taking it.:-|

    My Hiatius

If you've been diagnosed with "classic" ALS, the only reason to stop taking hydrocodone is if you're switching to oxycodone. I'm practically a doctor.

How can I get full access here?

It seems to me that this is the best als board on the Internet. I don't even know who's responsible for it being here. I'm really lazy.

    End is near

I'll say a prayer in my mind right now (don't want to forget when I'm praying before I sleep) that God somehow has a special beginning waiting for your mom.

Thank You to my Loving Wife

I too am one of the lucky PALS who is blessed with an incredibly wonderful wife who is also my caregiver. She is also the caregiver of our 20 year old son, who has severe Autism. She works harder than you would think is possible for one person, but somehow she does it all so well. She started...

Diagnosed ALS seems to move extremely fast...

Unfortunately my disease seems to be progressing quickly. The ALS specialist thought it would be slow, so there was some glimmer of hope, but every day I have a more difficult time with everything. This morning I rolled out of bed, my leg gave out, and I hit the floor with my forehead. I'm...

    maintaining bipap cleanliness

Oh, thanks you guys  I had a catheter once after a surgery and I was more afraid of getting it than the surgery. Turned out it wasn't that bad, but you know... Thanks for all this great info. Your experience is really going to help me, and many others I'm sure.
