Hi. I sleep in an adjustable bed with my legs and head elevated [approx. 30-40 degrees] and started experiencing lower back pain. I switched to sleeping in my power wheelchair and replaced my mattress with a Tempur-pedic Cloud mattress, hoping that would alleviate my pain. It didn't. My chair provides the support I need, but spending the night and all day in it is not ideal. Does anyone have any suggestions or advice to get me back on track to a good night's sleep? Thank you!

If your bed doesn't "tilt," ("reverse Trendelenburg" feature), when you angle both your legs and head as much as you are, over time your spine is getting too much shear stress -- being pulled vertically, potentially in both directions. I would certainly angle your head and legs to different angles, esp. if you sleep on your back.

I hate to second-guess something you just bought, but memory foam is not ideal for PALS because it's designed to let you sink, whereas with ALS the muscles that help you stay stable weaken over time. In addition, it's temperature sensitive, whereas in ALS, often temperature regulation becomes compromised.

If/as you are able, I would consider something like latex layers (SleepEZ is a good brand) that you can fine tune over time if needed, and/or a more advanced bed. Since your neck and shoulders are connected to your spine, a pillow that is height-customized is also ideal, such as a pillow with removable latex crumbs, shreds, or noodles, that can again, be adjusted over time.

thank you! I had a feeling it had to do with my 'stressed' sleeping position. I'll definitely look into latex layers and pillow options.
