We have to have a bathroom added to our home. Does anyone have any ideas, suggestions or things these wish they had or things they didn’t need to accommodate PALS needs?

Schedule a meeting with Alisa Brownlee. She works for ALS United National. She will set up a zoom call with you to go over changes to consider (not just for the bathroom). She was a wonderful resource for us.

Make sure you build a roll in shower big enough to accommodate 2 people and a wheelchair/shower chair. And a tall toilet/bidet

to accommodate the toilet/bidet seat, be sure to have a power outlet next to the toilet. the toilet should be set far enough from the wall to allow the base of a hoyer lift to pass between the back of the toilet and the wall behind it.

The ADA specifications for a sink/vanity are insufficient to accommodate a power chair. We found a carpenter who designed the vanity to allow a power chair to roll under the sink.

Thank you! This is very helpful!

Thank you! This is so helpful! We didn’t consider setting the toilet from away from the wall.
