I am 18 years old i started twitching when i first turned 17 (a bit over a year ago). I had for a good 10 months without noticing any other issues, recently I came scross something called “split hand” and “als tongue” which i appear to have both unfortunately. I also have some weakness in my right hand it kind of comes n goes and it tremors sometimes. I have realized my legs get tired more often the twitching is also aggressive and windespread. I have completely begun to lose hope my anxiety is eating me away especially because my tongue. I cant ever feel the tongue which i know most PALS cant. I also have found myself having tons of issues with my back stiffness my hand cramping.
I also included my tongue because i feel like it has slight atrophy. Someone please help me with a second opinion.
Also: i have seen a neuro which did a slight very small neuro exam and said she didnt find much concern but she isnt a neuromuscular so she didnt check for the signs i worry about.

Hello-

Please read here about why symptoms that come and go and twitching absent clinical weakness/failure point to some other issue. If you are unable to trust the doctor you have seen, by all means, visit with your family doctor to discuss further inquiry, but we would not contradict the professional expertise of a neurologist.

Take care

A neurologist is a neurologist. They aren't going to dismiss the idea of MND without reason. If she had concerns, she would have referred you further.

ALS is not diagnosed from split hand or tongue signs. It is about how well you function and test results if they are needed to rule it out.

Your description does not sound like ALS at all. But if you are anxious about your health, I encourage you to get counseling so it doesn't take over your life. I would also return to your PCP to discuss whether physical therapy or making changes in how you work, play, etc. might help you.
