Mucomyst alternatives

My mom needed help with mucus/phlegm so we requested her doctor to prescribe mucomyst to use before cough assist/suction.
The smell is too much for her to handle. Wondering if anyone uses an alternative for a similar effect?

Guaifenesin, in many cough syrups.

Yes, we use a Guifanesin liquid that I order on Amazon. This was the only place where I could find a liquid (my PALS can’t swallow pills) that only contains Guifanesin.
