Thank you so much for letting me join this forums. I have a question. My sister she is experiencing a lot of pain at neck area, like her neck muscles can not hold up her head. She is not taking any muscle relaxants because she already has unsteady gait and ataxia.
We sugested THC indica,20 mg patch but does not help her at all.If you have any experience with this patches and dosage please share with me.
Thank you.

Hello
Sorry about your sister, I myself experience a lot of neck ache and struggle to hold my neck walking sitting and have had terrible balance for 3 years. I did find in the beginning that baclofen did help a lot of aching/stiffness and didn't make my balance any worse. I now take brufen and panadol osteo ( long lasting paracetamol) and recently added Diazepam at night and still manage to walk with a walker with mum behind me for safety . I found this has really taken the edge off. Has your sister thought about using a neck collar even for part of the day to give her neck a rest? I'm sorry I don't know anything about the patches but I hope that helps

If she doesn't already wear a support collar, that'd be a first step for addressing the issue. If she does wear one, it may not be supportive enough and she needs a different type.

I can't hold my head up at all. I've found no support collars that are comfortable. I think they all assume some neck muscles. I've found massage to be the best treatment, but the pain can still be excruciating.
I either have to lie in bed or sit in a power wheelchair with gel head supports to be comfortable

Thank you for replay, yes she is usuing a neck collar mostly at day time.

You might try microwavable heating pads when she lies/sits, along the top of her shoulders/upper arms (the kind filled with grains that stays in place). We did massage with an unscented massage lotion.

When he could still tolerate the scent, my husband also found relief with Biofreeze; there are also many generics with same active ingredient.

If she is using a structured collar, try a different structure or just soft foam (comes in soft, medium, firm density; ours were medium).

Best,
Laurie
