I am needing some suggestions for a cushion for my featherweight manual wheelchair. I spend 11-12 hours a day in my manual chair and my powerchair, with an additional few hours in my very comfy recliner. My time is pretty equally divided between the WC and PWC, depending on what I am doing. Scrubbing the grout on my floor is best done from my regular chair, vacuuming is definitely easier from my PWC etc. I have only been wheelchair dependent for 14 months. I have had no issues with skin issues, however, the last few days my butt has been a little sore by end of the day. I'm just thinking I need to add a better cushion. I am also considering international travel this summer. Taking a cushion for that would likely be a good idea. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

What chair is it and what cushion are you using now?

I started out with a foam seat cushion in my power wheelchair.

Within a year, that was no longer tolerable after an hour of use.

I switched to using Roho Quadtro seat cushions and it has completely solved my problem.

I have one for each wheelchair and also one for my desk chair that I spend a lot of time in.

Steve, that's a great cushion but may not be appropriate for a featherweight manual. The seat-to-floor height, as you know, is pretty important with those.
