I thought I would update my earlier post with my husband's latest EMG results. He was seen at Duke to assess his calf muscle atrophy and inability to walk on his toes.
Here are the results:
EMG:
Concentric needle electrode examination of selected right upper and lower extremity muscles showed findings of chronic reinnervation in first dorsal interosseus and gluteus medius, along with active denervation in medial gastrocnemius. Needle examination in the right craniobulbar region showed chronic reinnervation changes in the sternocleidomastoid and genioglossus. Needle examination in the right thoracic paraspinal muscles showed increased insertional activity and scattered positive sharp waves. Needle examination in the right lumbar paraspinal muscles was normal.
After his exam and EMG they are leaning towards Kennedy's disease as a diagnosis. They said we should have the results of the test in about 3 weeks.
