Update on my mom, she continues to decline quickly. She is now exclusively in a wheelchair as she can no longer use the rollator. She has a home health aid that comes in two times a week for two hours in the mornings but home health aids are expensive. My mom doesn't qualify for palliative or...

Just wondering about what CALS get their care helpers to do. I am so new to this, but we have just received funding for a carer to help out so I can find time to leave the house. I have been so attached to primary caring for my husband that I know it is going to be a task to actually leave and...
I am getting so angry and resentful. I am mad that I do work while my brother gets to have nice visits with my mom. Mom won't let my brother or uncle help her with dressing, bathing or toileting....okay I get that but she won't let my aunt who lives 2 minutes away help her either, she will only...
I'm looking for suggestions on the next 'level' of toileting. Right now I am still able to walk the few steps to the commode in our bathroom. (My PWC doesn't fit in the bathroom.) However it is becoming challenging and I think I need to make a change soon. We have a bedside commode, which I...
not my usual hilarious self (no really I am), but have thoughts in my head. maybe others have dealt with?
I find myself reading the recent 'in memory' threads, I've started to call it the departure lounge, names I knew, people I didn't get the opportunity to. And some comments from cals in...
ALS patients’ one of common problems is toilet seat height for toileting when the symptom is progressing. It will be getting harder and harder to stand up after finishing toileting.
I installed a higher toilet. It is called, “Tall toilet”, 20” height from the floor. It has been helping a great...
My husband is now wheelchair reliant. We have been on the MND/ALS journey since September 2014. We are experiencing greater difficulty transferring or standing up to change clothes or go to the toilet.
So, I wondered if anyone out there can refer me to a manufacturer of men's shorts,or trousers...
Hello to all.
Have any of you tackled the long journey of ALS without a lift?
We are surely at the point where a lift would normally be considered
and/or necessary, but we are reluctant.
I am still able to move my pALS around with transfer boards and a
scooter. He has no lower body strength...
There appears to be considerable confusion among patients, doctors, caregivers, and regulators about the right of ALS patients to elect who will provide their care. The rule is actually very simple: an ALS patient should have the right to elect who will provide their care—licensed or...

We need information about lift slings. We were told the best would be a full body commode sling. I was just reading on the internet that the best type for ALS patients is the Hygiene/Toileting sling. Thought I would ask advice from people that have used these slings. Thanks
