Hi,

Please help. Need support and advise.
I am after a consultation with my neurologist who said that all tests point to a probable als diagnosis and has referred me to an asl clinic for final diagnosis.
It all started a year ago with gradual weakness in left foot and paralysis in toes also balance issues.
Two months ago started having heaviness in leg and trouble walking went to gp who sent me to emergency room.
In emergency room met with neuro who adnited me because of upper neuron signs - positive babinski, spasticity, hyperreflexia with a working diagnosis of Ms. Mri - back and brain cleared and was discharged. Leg has not improved so doc sent for emg. Results are attached.
Referred to neurologist - his finding from Friday visit upper and lower neuron involvement with muscular atrophy in left had and foot.
Need some support I am young (40 years old) with two small children.
My husband is taking it very hard.
Thanks for listening to my rant. Would be happy for some insight.

What did the summary say? Can you translate?

I am glad you are going to an als specialist. I didn’t see any fibs and only one psw which isn’t what we usually see in als. The rest of what you say is concerning though Your specialist may want to do their own emg When is your appointment? I hope soon.

Thank you for your swift reply.

Yes I will try to translate

Report states neurogenic changes in all muscles in left leg also partially in right leg. Fasiculation in left ta muscle. Active denervation.

Also must state that I feel wide spread fasiulations in leg also have less often in arms and torso.

I don't have an appointment yet at the clinic hopefully they will contact me at the beginning of the week. I only met with the neurologist who referred me yesterday.

Thanks for the translation

In a way this is the hardest time as you wait for your next appointment. Don’t forget to stop living. If this is ALS each day is precious and you want to do things while you can. If it is something else you will never get this time back. If you have a gap before you see the specialist ( as we surely would in the US) make plans to do something fun- perhaps even a vacation.

Thank you for the support. Yes today I planned a fun day with kids to keep my mind occupied. Will wait and see hopefully the wait won't be too long.
