Hey all. I’m an (almost) 30yr old female. This is my first post and I’ll try to give as much info in one go as possible.
My symptoms really kicked off June of last year. Twitches and leg cramps. Felt like a firework show starting in my legs and eventually migrated up my body. At this same time, my muscles felt so tight and fatigued and that feeling hasn’t really ever left since, it just seems more intense some days than others but never gone if that makes sense.
Well about six months into this I started having difficulty swallowing but it wasn’t constant. Now it’s nearly always constant, again just some days seem not quite as bad but always with me. The difficulty swallowing looks like food and water being slow to go down and even tries to go up my nose. At the back of my throat certain foods take many swallows to get down. My breathing has been tight and shallow and even stuttery on inhaling, like that feeling you get after you had a good cry. But obviously hadn’t been crying.
I do have GERD and have tried to explain the swallowing and breathing issues away by that. But my neurologist appointment last week just unsettled me. She said I had weakness in my hips and a little in my neck. She thinks since I had a clean emg it’s not ALS but she ordered another emg. I didn’t request it, she just added that to the list. She wanted to do a myasthenia workup too so waiting to hear back on that but it just doesn’t sound like me when I read up on it. My right leg also looks much smaller and different shaped than my left which I only noticed over the past few months.
To sum it up, I’m having widespread fasciculations (even in my throat and abdomen) and cramps in my legs, muscle fatigue easily, poor balance, weakness in hips and neck, shaky fatigued legs and arms, difficulty with swallowing, maybe atrophy? I will attach a picture.
